African Naming Ceremony Ritual

Interested in having a Yoruba style naming ceremony? You've come to the right place! Baby naming regarding the Yoruba culture is a very unique process. A child can even be given tens of names, each one of them holding a very beautiful and memorable meaning and significance.


A naming ceremony is an event at which a newborn baby is given a name, in Yoruba land, it is known as ”Iso Omo Loruko” . The naming ceremony is done when the child is eight days old by the Yorubas. The ceremony is held in the family compound ( House of the paternal grandparents of the baby).
